WHAT'S THE NEED?

CGYC exists to break the chains of generational poverty

by helping students learn the skills needed to launch successfully into adulthood.

  • 24.8% of Adams County children live in poverty*

 *6th highest in Indiana ​

  • 31% of people who don't graduate will live in poverty.

  • 32% of Adams County high school students considered "economically disadvantaged."

For students involved in afterschool programs

  • 70% express more interest and knowledge in science.

  • 50% improve math and reading grades.

  • 60% see improvement in classroom behavior.

  • 56% improve homework completion and in-class participation.

  • 72% see an increase in perseverance and critical thinking skills.

REDUCING HIGH RISK BEHAVIOR

Developmetnal assets are the building blocks of  healthy youth.  Every CGYC activity supports one or more of these assets.  The more assets a student has, the less likely they are to be involved in high-risk behaviors.

ENGAGING ACTIVITIES

  • Tutoring- students receive one on one acadmic help every day

  • Life Skills-  students build skills in areas such as personal finance, culinary arts, resume building, employable skills, and job etiquette.

  • Media & Arts-  students learn online broadcast, live production, video & sound mixing, set and stage lighting, post production editing, and more

YOUR DONATIONS MATTER

Your donations provide real services to Adams County students.  The section below shows the amount of services for one student your donation provides.  Whether your donation covers an hour, day, week month, semester, or year you are changing student's lives forever!

 

$10 ($.83 per month)

In one hour at CGYC students can receive tutoring, learn a skill, receive encouragement, or even make new friends.  Every hour matters.

Every day at CGYC students receive academic and life skills training, receive encouragement, and increase their potential for success.  Every day matters.

Every week at CGYC students participate in talk-time, free time, education & tutoring, life-skills training, and media & arts.  Every week matters.

$360  ($30 per month)

In one month at CGYC students will partcipate in activities designed to enhance their spiritual, social, emotional, occupational, intellectual, environmetnal, financial, and physical well being.  Every month matters.

Every semester students at CGYC progress along an academic success path designed to help them improve their grades in school.  Every semester matters.

Every year at CGYC students receive an equivilent of 38 school days of high-quality tutoring and mentoring.  Every year matters.
